March, April and May Staffers of the Month
May 2012 CANR SAC Staffer of the Month Announcement:
The CANR Staff Advisory Committee announces our May 2012 Staffer of the Month award winner, Rene Wilson from the Department of Animal Science’s Horse Teaching and Research Center. Nominator Sally Shaw wrote:
“Rene Wilson is truly deserving of this acknowledgement and award. Rene has been a "shining star" at the Kellogg Biological Station. With the changeover to EBS, and all of the subsequent frustrations, Rene has kept a positive attitude and taken on many additional tasks normally outside of her job description. She is always willing to help and definitely goes above and beyond what is expected of her. Her sunny disposition and positive outlook has helped all of us to make it through the EBS ‘Go Live’ and maintain our sanity. Rene is always willing to take on new tasks and always offers to help when she sees stress rising. She is very perceptive and can recognize when someone needs a helping hand. We have all found Rene to be a wonderful part of our staff and recognize that many times she is the glue that holds us all together. Rene has consistently handled a large range of information and taken on additional responsibilities related to payroll and HR at the KBS. She has provided much needed assistance and without her positive attitude this office would have had much more difficulty in dealing with the EBS changeover. Rene is a priceless gem and a wonderful part of the staff in the administration office of the Kellogg Biological Station.”
Congratulations Rene!
April 2012 CANR SAC Staffer of the Month Announcement:
The CANR Staff Advisory Committee announces our April 2012 Staffer of the Month award winner, Paula Hitzler from the Department of Animal Science’s Horse Teaching and Research Center.
Nominator John Shelle wrote:
“Paula Hitzler has been and remarkable employee since coming to MSU in 1989. She has the responsibility for the management and care of the horses at the Horse Teaching and Research Center. She also has the primary responsibility for training students either through coursework or as student employees at the Center. Students learn proper management and handling techniques while receiving her wise council regarding their own personal development. She has helped countless students achieve their career goals related to the horse industry. Paula provides each student with the opportunity to develop at their own pace and to their desired level of competence.
She also facilitates all of the research projects that are conducted at the Center. Paula has developed and maintains all of the records that have kept the facility in compliance with animal care regulations, which has been recognized as a model program in this regard.
The Horse Teaching and Research Center in many ways is the back door to Michigan State University and as such needs to represent it well. The Center enjoys countless visitors annually and the impeccable way in which it is maintained speaks volumes about Paula Hitzler’s dedication to the Department and University.”
Congratulations Paula!
March 2012 CANR SAC Staffer of the Month Announcement:
The CANR Staff Advisory Committee announces our February 2011 Staffer of the Month award winner, JUDY PARDEE from business manager for
the School of Planning, Design and Construction, the Land Policy Institute and the Native American Institute!
Nominator Dr. Scott Witter wrote:
“It is with great pleasure that I nominate Judy Pardee for the CANR staff award. Judy serves as the business manager for
the School of Planning, Design and Construction, the Land Policy Institute and the Native American Institute. She has
taken on all of these tasks with professionalism, a positive attitude and with a great deal of new work. She has had to
take on new supervisory roles and to blend a team of support staff into one working team that supports all three
units. She has done this as MSU has implemented the new EBS management system, which changed how all HR and
fiscal management are done. While all CANR staff has gone through significant change; Judy has continually
distinguished herself as a team facilitator and leader.”
Congratulations, Judy!
